2023 “Live Like Duke” Scholarship

Duke Carrillo was a 2017 graduate of Flower Mound High School where he was an outstanding student as well as a two sport varsity athlete. Duke was a lifelong participant in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School after graduation from Flower Mound High School. Duke went on to become a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy in the summer of 2019 where he was pursuing a degree in quantitative economics with the aspiration of becoming a naval aviator. Throughout his life, Duke placed a high value on leadership, integrity, loyalty and service to his country. Duke passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 8, 2020 at the United States Naval Academy. He was buried with full military honors at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.

The Duke Carrillo Foundation was formed with the purpose of awarding scholarships in honor of Duke’s legacy to students who exemplify what it means to “Live Like Duke.” Scholarships are available to students who are current seniors in Lewisville Independent School District, participate in sports at the varsity level, maintain a weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, have a history of community service and a family background of military service.
