Fly for Duke Aviation Scholarships

Living like Duke…inspiring young pilots one aviation scholarship at a time.

Duke Carrillo was a 2017 graduate of Flower Mound High School in Texas where he was an outstanding student as well as a two sport varsity athlete. Duke was a lifelong participant in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Throughout his life, Duke placed a high value on leadership, integrity, loyalty and service to his country. Duke was a member of the class of 2022 at the United States Naval Academy where he was pursuing a degree in quantitative economics. He passed away on February 8, 2020 at the United States Naval Academy and was buried with full military honors.

Duke’s dream was to become a naval aviator and a professional pilot. Although he was unable to achieve that goal, the foundation is committed to helping others achieve their aviation goals in his place. The Duke Carrillo Foundation began offerring Fly For Duke aviation scholarships beginning in 2024 to aspiring aviators who are between the ages of 17 and 24 to earn a private pilot’s license. In addition to financial assistance, the scholarship will include mentoring to support and guide the recipients as they go through training.
