2023 Scholarship Application
Duke Carrillo was a 2017 graduate of Flower Mound High School. At FMHS, Duke was an outstanding student as well as a two sport varsity athlete. Duke played varsity football starting his sophomore year, and he qualified for State in wrestling his junior and senior years. Duke was an Eagle Scout who participated in a wide variety of community service projects. After high school, Duke attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School for one year, and then he became a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. Throughout his life, Duke placed a high value on leadership, integrity, commitment and loyalty. Duke passed away February 8th, 2020 at the United States Naval Academy and was buried with full military honors at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery. Duke was pursuing a career as a naval aviator with a degree in quantitative economics. The “Live Like Duke” motto represents how he lived his short life. This scholarship was developed to recognize students whose lives exemplify what it means to “Live Like Duke”.
